Is it Time to Switch Up Your Signature Look?

Here’s an easy way to transform your beauty routine without any major bang regrets.

When someone challenges you to be bold, it doesn’t mean you have to morph into an extroverted superheroine who has extraordinary physical, emotional and intellectual powers. Being bold is about being courageously authentic, self-aware and confident. It’s also about how you present yourself to the world. Fashion is one marker, but makeup is also an expression of your personality, says makeup artist Simone Otis.

“Whether you love Instagram-inspired makeup or an edited approach that highlights your favourite features, being bold means fearlessly owning your beauty,” explains Otis, who is working with Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique on its #mybold campaign. The program, which runs until September 8, invites women to boldly explore their relationship with makeup. Otis has designed nine on-trend looks, including “Legendary Metallic”. FASHION tested this look—as well as “Daring Details,” a glittery new take on the cat-eye—on our August cover girl, Gigi Gorgeous. If you’d like to try it out, watch our BTS video or go for your own one-on-one consult with an in-store Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Expert.

Regardless of whether you wear a little or a lot of makeup, you should experiment, says Otis, adding that it’s one of the fastest ways to achieve an inspiring and empowering transformation. “You won’t break the bank, and you don’t have to cut your hair and then have bang regret,” she says. “You don’t even have to commit to any one look. You can put it on and wash it off. The goal is to have fun.”
